Item 55 installation instructions prior to installation, orient the strip so that an imprinted end of a is located at top. It requires approx 36 screws. By far, the most recommended method of installation is to install screws in portion Piling-guards strips that are located above water and lower when levels drop. For lake installations, be sure the top of Piling-guard is located at least several feet above highest level to allow high waves or boat wakes.
Periodically check the security of screws and Piling-guard to ensure installation. Never use any electrical tool underwater. This eliminates the need for an extra hand during installation. Install one screw near the top of Piling-guard strip and double check for proper alignment with any existing wear on surface Piling.
Only 1/2 thick, yet protects your Piling and boat. For installations in tidal areas, begin installing an hour or two before low tide. To allow for boat wakes and high waves, be sure the top of Piling-guards are located at least several feet or more above highest moon tides. Eight times more wear resistance than stainless steel.
Protect your investment with Piling-guard strips. Low profile. Install screws that are accessible above water. For more details please search in YouTube Piling-guard.
Be sure to add more screws later if the lake level drops. Be sure to the thick abrasion surface of Piling-guard with wear or contact surfaces on Piling. Insert screws into holes and give a twist to engage the point strip. Install lower screws until you reach the top of water.
This video shows how Piling-guards save money for dock owners, by preventing wear to their expensive Pilings. Continue installing pairs of screws approx 8 apart, along both mounting flanges in a downward direction while re-checking alignment to Piling as you proceed. Pilings are expensive.
Piling-guards can be removed and re-installed at a later date. The video also shows how easy they are to install.
Install the lowest screws at tide. Piling-guard strips can also be cut to desired length using a circular saw. In some very rare cases, it may be desirable to install portion of Piling-guards underwater.
If needed, you can clamp the Piling-guard strip to Piling during installation. Note: strips only for this list, the screws are not included. Non-marking to boat surfaces.
Due to the chemical make up of all stainless steel screws, they are slightly softer than conventional screws and therefore easier sheer if over tightened. Remove shellfish and barnacles from the Pilings before installation. Resists salt, wear, UV rays and hot cold temperature extremes. Piling-guards can be closely butted together end-to-end for applications requiring strips longer than the standard strip length of 8 feet.
